The African Leadership University (ALU), called “the Harvard of Africa” by CNN, is pioneering an innovative approach to tertiary education in Africa. As an ALU Gap Year Program participant, you will be a fully integrated member of the ALU student body, experiencing innovative learning while living and studying with exceptional students from over 30 countries in Africa and around the world.
You will develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication, and data analytics, as well as benefit from our African Studies curriculum. Our learning model is experiential and founded on providing real-world experience and leadership skills that you will carry with you throughout your life.
When you’re not in the classroom or learning from your peers, the tropical island of Mauritius (one of Africa’s most stable and beautiful countries) is yours to explore! The Gap Year program includes regular excursions to the mountains, rainforests, coral reefs – and, of course, beaches –
of Mauritius. We also offer internship opportunities in business, the arts, environmental conservation, and non-profits. At ALU, the island is your campus!
